ANGELINE CHEANG

Hi, I’m The Hope Artist, Angeline Cheang, as featured in The World of Interiors magazine (April 2021 issue). I’m a Malaysian-born, New York-based contemporary artist. My mission is to spread hope through my bright art and donate art supplies to children’s shelters so that children in crisis can have a chance to paint and feel the joy, hope, and healing power of art. My philosophy is that “art keeps hope alive” and that it has healing power. Inspired by life and my surroundings, I like to think of my paintings as visual poems evoking viewers’ emotions and unique interpretations. I studied art at The Art Students League of New York.

I also have a Bachelor Degree in Food Science (I’m a foodie). Before being a full-time artist, I was a nutritionist, founder/owner of Slimville Beauty & Health Center, TV cooking show presenter (NTV7) in Malaysia; and a diamond high jewelry sales professional at Tiffany & Co. New York Fifth Avenue. Besides painting, I love to sing, dance, cook, and travel. I also enjoy long-distance running, scuba diving, mountain climbing, and bungee jumping.

I’ve loved to paint as early as I have memory. I always turn to art for hope, healing, and serenity. Now, art is the way for me to support my disabled husband & our two young children. Being an artist mom, I would like to inspire my children and all women to be strong, resilient, and confident that they can achieve anything they dream of. Art gave me hope every time when life tried to crush me. I hope everyone can feel the beauty and power of art.

I’m known for my bright, colorful art that conveys positive, hopeful, and uplifting messages. Not satisfied to remain static, I am continually evolving my work by exploring and experimenting with different media and techniques. I often extend my subject matter beyond the canvas frame to create a unique visual effect. I hope my art brings you hope, joy, and inspiration. Thank you so much for supporting my art and mission.
